Why does the organization need to be a registered 501(c)(3)?Updated 3 days ago

501(c)(3)s are tax-exempt, meaning the money donated to them for a given project won’t be taxed. If we gave money to an individual or organization not registered as a 501(c)(3), they’d be forced to report our donation as income.
